OUR HISTORY
Founded in 2017, WVTO 92.7 FM became the first radio station in Baltimore entirely dedicated to Catholic programming.
Our story begins in 2013 when members of St. Benedict Church in Baltimore City, were visiting Benedictine Nuns who operated two radio stations in Rio Grande City, Texas. Seeing this as a great means to evangelize, they became inspired to bring Catholic radio to Baltimore and set up a steering committee to help with the process.
The steering committee learned that the FCC had an opening for a new, low-powered FM station to be built at 92.7 MHz and decided to pursue a broadcast license for that frequency. The process took three years before obtaining a license and the go-ahead to build a station from the FCC on August 28, 2016.
On March 4, 2017, WVTO officially launched with a blessing and inaugural live broadcast. Starting June 2017, WVTO began broadcasting 24/7. WVTO became an affiliate of the We Are One Body (WAOB) network on February 20, 2020.
